Motor 3D model.

Motor during assembly.

The Prometheus V5 is the first solid rocket motor in Italy (at the best of our knowledge) to sport a spike nozzle!
The motor was designed to test the feasibility of this technology. The case is halfway between one for a test stand motor and one for a flight motor, made of stainless steel (to fit the pressure sensors near the bulkhead and nozzle) but thinner in respect to the PR-V4.
The pyrogen was engineered and built ad hoc for the motor, unlike in PR-V4. A four grains geometry was selected to obtain a constant thrust/pressure curve for experimental reasons. The absolute pressure is decreased at an optimum value for a rocket vector prototype. This value depends on dry vector mass and is about 63 [bar].
